An abstract of a proposal for presentation should be written and structured according to the following instructions.
English is the language of submissions and presentations. All submitted proposals must be in English. If English is not your first language, we recommend having a fluent English speaker review your submission before submitting it. Language editing will not be provided.
We encourage you to use plain scholarly language that can be understood by love researchers from different disciplines. Unclear sentences can be confusing and misinterpreted. Please avoid using specific disciplinary lexicon and abbreviations that may be unclear for scholars not versed in your area of study. Please explicitly define the key terms and concepts in the submission proposal and presentations. The list of references is NOT suitable for the abstract.
For better structuring the abstract of your proposed presentation, please include the following sections:
(1) Title of proposed presentation,
(2) Research background and aim of study,
(3) Methodology and method,
(4) Highlights of results,
(5) Discussion and conclusions.
Such a structure will ease other participants’ understanding of your proposal. You can use up to 500 words in total across these five sections. Please read the following Proposal Submission Guidelines with brief explanations to better understand expectations from a proposal.
Proposal Submission Guidelines (How to Structure Your Submission Proposal)
Title: A concise summary of the research topic (up to 20 words).
Research background presents the introductory part of a research report that describes the context and significance of the study topic by outlining existing knowledge of love. The research background presents the theory and sets the stage for research questions, providing a foundation to understand the rationale and the importance of the study.
Aim(s) of study presents the overall, broad purpose or goal of a research project. It declares the primary reason for conducting the study. It outlines the general direction of the research and what it intends to achieve. The aim of a study is often expressed as a single, clear statement. It also explains how the current research contributes to existing knowledge of love.
Research methodology and methods present specific ways of conducting research. Methodology describes the overarching framework and strategy for choosing research methods. Methods describe the specific rules, tools, techniques, practical steps, and procedures that researchers used to collect and analyze data in their study of love. For instance:
In literary research, the methodology presents the theoretical and practical framework scholars use to analyze literary texts, including the specific approaches, tools, and critical lenses that they use to answer research questions and build arguments about love, often drawing from various literary theories.
In linguistics, the methodology presents the process of identifying and analyzing information about language associated with love phenomena using a methodological paradigm, techniques, and procedures.
In philosophy, the methodology refers to procedures for conducting research, creating new theories, and selecting between competing theories of love. Philosophical methodology also compares and evaluates them.
In biology, psychology, communication studies, the methodology presents the systematic approach and strategies researchers use to study love, including the specific procedures and techniques employed to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
Results of the study present the new results and highlight findings that a researcher has obtained to answer the research question(s). Please highlight the main results here, presenting them in a logical sequence.
Discussion and conclusions provide an interpretation, summarize the results, and explain the significance of the findings in the broader context of love research. In other words, conclusions present the key takeaways and interpretations derived from the research results.
In addition to the above information, the following sections will help us include you in the most relevant thematic session.
